The Last Light of Day

Photographs by Douglas Petersen

Designed by Dean Bornstein

"The Delaware is an intimate river, meandering through a landscape that enfolds and encloses. Even its cliffs invite contact, offering faces covered with wildflowers and ledges for climbing and sitting. Breathtaking views from river's heights seem the counterpoint to a predominant mood of tranquility."

Twenty seven views of the Delaware River by photographer Douglas Petersen are reproduced in The Last Light of Day. An oversize book format was chosen to convey the sweep and scale of the original photographs, most of which were made with a panoramic camera. A text introduction by Cynthia Poten of the Delaware Riverkeeper Network complements the photographs, reproduced as 300 line screen tritones. The book was printed on a premium uncoated paper, Monadnock Dulcet 80# cover, by The Stinehour Press of Lunenburg, Vermont.
